I hiked Pico last year and loved it but didn't have any of this information. Thank you so much for creating this site! I'd like to hike again next year and camp at the top. Can you make a recommendation for the best time of year to camp? I know the weather is quite variable and would like to schedule my trip when the odds are best.
ReplyDeleteThe spring-summer months are probably best (May-August). The temperature will generally be higher and chances of snow are slim. Enjoy!
DeleteWhat is the weather like on the mountain in December? Is it possible to climb year round.
ReplyDeleteIt can change really quickly, like on any mountain. If you are experienced with ice/snow climbing, it will be a great challenge if you have to deal with those conditions. If there is no snow, it will likely be very cold and windy, but manageable if you dress very warm.
